Brightwater AcademyNursery, primary and secondary

A school built around knowing each child.

We stay small on purpose, so that every child has an adult who notices when something changes.

A welcome from the Head.

When we opened, we had 32 pupils and two rented classrooms. Today we have 480, and the promise has not changed: every child is known by name.

I became a teacher because I remember the one adult who noticed me at school. Everything we do is meant to make that kind of attention ordinary. It is why our classes are small, why teachers greet every child at the door, and why parents can reach a teacher without an appointment.

We are not the right school for every family. We ask parents to read with their children, to arrive on time and to tell us early when something is wrong. In return we promise honest reports, clear fees and a school that tells you the truth.

Please come and see us on an ordinary day. Ask the children what they like. They will tell you.

What we teach besides lessons.

Four values that every teacher, from nursery to SS 3, is expected to model.

Respect

For each other, for teachers and for the place we learn in. It starts with greetings and goes all the way to how we disagree.

Curiosity

Asking why is welcome in every class. We would rather have a hard question than a silent room.

Honesty

Owning mistakes early. It applies to pupils, to teachers and to the way we write your child's report.

Service

Every child has a job in school, from classroom monitor to library helper. Belonging is built by being useful.

The people your child will see every day.
